Finding the perfect cocktail glass:
Spring is in the air and the weather is ripe for entertaining. We all have been stuck inside for far too long and this shouldn’t be an excuse not to take a step outside, take in the air and celebrate for no good reason at all. Gatherings of any kind are a way to acknowledge the small things, live mindfully, and ensure that your inner circle is nurtured and cared for. Oftentimes we forget that the simple things can mean the most and no explanation is necessary. The element of surprise can be both joyous and welcoming in these times. Invite the ones that mean the most for an evening of cocktails and conversation. What can be more apropos than drink and nourishment? Now, finding that perfect cocktail glass to go with the perfect drink:
- My favorite. The coupe. Curved. Delicate. This easy to hold cocktail glass is both whimsical and fun. Going back to the early 20s when these glasses were meant to incorporate celebratory moments and just the right amount of bubbly. Nowadays, these petite glasses are used for almost any sweet cocktail.. a Paloma, lemon drop, or rose aperitif paired with a lime wheel or even sweet fruit floating to the top adds the perfect touch.
- The champagne flute is both elegant and stately in form. Its elongated, slender frame is perfect with any carbonated liquid. This glass is meant to be admired just as much as enjoyed by the palate. Circular or defined lines can be coupled with any appetizer and can bring light and joy when entertaining.
- Highball glass. This substantial glass is not for the faint of heart. It is robust and generous and can hold any wonder on tap and bottle. Perfect for a bold IPA, lightly brewed Corona, or even a sweet, crisp hefeweizen concoction pairs perfectly with this glass. Out with the ordinary and in with the unexpected.Â
- The martini is both classic and most recognized. Wide rimmed, perfect for handling a string of olives 1, 2, or 3. A tray lined with these beauties, shaken, not stirred, dirty or clean is most desired. Showcase a classic such as the appletini or bring on the bespoke with an espresso martini with curls of rich chocolate is both appreciated and welcome.
- To finish the evening. An Irish mug fitted with a splash of espresso and cream or possibly a dash of port wine can tie the bow of your already wrapped present. This mug pairs nicely with your favorite arabica and maybe a flavored whip on top to seal the evening.Â
Finding the right glass demonstrates more than the obvious. Your guests will notice the thought that was put into the details. In a world of convenience and fast pace, sometimes it really is special to slow and take in what is right in front.
Cheers!
